Life isn't always a cake walk!

HORMONES / SUPPLEMENTS / CBD TALK

This is one of the hardest posts I’ve ever had to share, let alone speak about. I wish I had had the courage and vulnerability to talk about it at the time, however I didn’t so here we are now. When I look at the physical transformation here I also remember the way I felt.

The photo on the left I was mentally, emotionally and physically drained. What I believe happens from my experience is I went through a lot of changes early last year, starting with a relationship that parted ways, a new business endeavour Bloom, transitioning and moving multiple (5-6 times in 4 months) before moving in to my place. I felt like I was in the constant state of fight or flight with life, my health and personal space were put on the back burner as the things listed above took precedent over anything else. It has been my hardest year to date ( first world problems yes, but my own personal struggle here). With that being said, has it ever been one of the most rewarding years yet, I have met so many incredible people along the way and a ton of support from friends and family.

My emotional wellbeing, which inevitably affected my physical, has been the real challenge here. A stressful environment such as the one I explained above caused my hormones and hypothyroid to slip out of control.Without taking my health into my own hands and doing my own research, I saw a doctor close to where I was living at the time. He added new thyroid medication to my regime, Desiccated, and upped my dosage of Synthroid without examining my blood work prior to. I was told to go on Modafinal for my anxiety and better focus trying to handle my business. Which I later found out that:

Modafinil is a wakefulness-promoting prescription drug that reduces the extreme sleepiness that accompanies sleep disorders including narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, and shift work disorder (SWD). It is sometimes used off-label to treat symptoms of ADHD in adults 18 years of age and older.

I can honestly say I only took it a handful of times because right away I recognized my anxiety was WORSE. Along with my thyroid medications being doubled I literally don’t even know who I was looking back it really feels like an emotional blur. I will also note that I actually really did trust this doctor and heard great things prior to seeing them. When your hormones get to that extent of imbalance it’s normal to feel like a crazy person- and that’s about the time i found Dr Hennigar ( this is also not even a little bit of an ad ). I explained my situation in tears literally balling, as I couldn’t grasp why I felt the way I did when I had been initially doing what another doctor led me to do. She checked almost everything in my body and all 4 tests to do with my thyroid. She called me in a soon as she got the blood work back and said “ I cant even imagine how you’re feeling I had to call you in right away to chat as your thyroid is not even reading on the blood work chart.” So basically that meaning that it was SOOO high and revving that it was shutting down. She took me off Dessicated right away and back to my normal Synthroid dose 150mg. Also adding progesterone as that was super thrown off. Then the biggest thing is T I M E. I have been making these changes and seeing Hennigar for almost 6 months now so it has taken a lot of time to heal and feel “normal” again. Just when things started to come around I was in a car accident which was a final wakeup call that I needed to make my health a priority, and slow down even further. Which I can honestly say has been the best thing for me mentally and emotionally. Your mental health is SO so important what goes on inside your head and you heart reflects on the outside. The main thing I have changed is actually working out less, not stressing over missing a workout, not stressing over food. Literally just intuitively eating and listening to what my body wants and needs. Knowing the signal cues between full and over eating.

No restrictions, not that I have restricted myself in the last few years but if I did at all restrict myself in the last year It would have looked like this, “I already ate enough calories I’m sure for the day and don’t need to eat anymore” However changing that mindset to if I’ve had a super long working day and also worked out and my body is still telling me I’m hungry I am sure as heck gonna eat. Haha I am just going to make sure what I eat is good for my mind, body and soul. Also saying no and not running myself too thin, because I'm good at that. Ive always wanted to do it all, I had to stop my Hawaii trips and other opportunities that had come up because I knew how important sitting still was for my health and wellbeing. I started focussing on myself, and my relationships with those who love me. In addiction, I have been taking CBD the last 3-4 months and it has helped my anxiety immensely. Meditating and keeping calm has been the hardest challenge, however using the app Headpace has helped. There is a ton of different ways you can meditate weather its going for a walk in nature, sitting outside, dancing, working out whatever makes you feel happy inside.

My body was a result of what was going on inside as it always is, it was showing in break outs all over my body, acne I have never had before and my skin was dry, my lips were dry and pale. CRAZY water retention, to the point I’d wake up and I’d see it in my face and hands- and of course the weight gain. This is how the body works. “if you don’t deal with the shit going on inside your outside body will manifest.”

I am posting this for 1. to just be careful and also do your own homework when it comes to doctors, nutritionists, naturopaths etc.

2. If something feels not right or off with your body listen to that, you know yourself better than anyone else, so keep pushing for answers and tests.

3. Natural supplements I take now

  • Rhodiola, helps with stress, fights fatigue, helps depression, can improve performance while working out.

  • 5 htp, helps with improve symptoms of fibromyalgia, helps with depression, help your sleep cycle by producing melatonin

  • MACAAA seriously yall know this is one of my favourites, boosting energy and endurance, increasing fertility, Improving mood, helps balance out hormones.

  • Greens powder, just good for general health it can add a lot of packed in micronutrients. I don’t take a multi vitamin, I basically use this instead.

  • vitamin B. B vitamins have a direct impact on your energy levels, brain function, and cell metabolism.

  • Orthoadapt, for adrenal fatigue.

  • Just eating healthy whole foods, chemical free, good food that taste good, there is not better supplement then food and eating foods you like. Your body is gonna have a harder time digesting food if your not enjoying what your eating.

  • CBD!!!! ALSO has been life changing, I use the pure cbd with no THC so basically CBD is a nonpsychoactive compound. That means it doesn’t produce the “high” associated with THC. Its calming and there is a ton of benefits that come along with using CBD.

4. its just good to get your blood work done regularly to make sure everything is in check.

5. taking time for yourself is so important in this life. We have one life just take the time for you.

6. you're mindset for sure, but if you're not slowing down and taking that time for yourself your not gonna be able to do any work on your mind. Which again, the body is just a reflection of the inside.

And that is that, if you guys have any more questions about anything just ask awayyyy J
